My teaching and literary qualifications make me a suitable mentor for writers looking for help with process, poetry manuscripts, submissions and editing, as well as literary outreach projects and grant writing. I have a special interest in working with those impacted by war and military service, and I am experienced in working with writers with diverse backgrounds. I’ve taught in the college classroom for nearly ten years and worked with youth, teens, seniors, veterans, immigrants, military families and independent writers in communities across the country. I currently live near Tacoma, Washington; out of state clients consult via Skype or phone.
My rate for private consultation is $150 for an hour’s discussion (via Skype or phone) on a manuscript of 5 poems or literary proposal you send beforehand, and materials are returned with written feedback immediately after our session. Session structures are tailored to your intentions and include assignments for future writing and recommended reading lists. Longer manuscripts are considered at flexible rates.
I am happy to consult for free 15-minute phone sessions to determine whether the fit is right. Sessions should leave you feeling energized to write and revise, read and play, experiment and reflect. Contact me with questions.
